FREMONT, CA, February
25, 2008 - Optoplex Corporation, a leading supplier of
innovative fiber-optic components for the next-generation
communication systems, announces its second-generation
product, a dual-rate DPSK demodulator suitable for adaptive-DPSK
systems.
Telecom service providers have been slowly migrating to
the 40-Gb/s optical transmission equipment over the last
year as more advanced phase-based (DPSK and DQPSK) modulation
technologies become more mature. A new architecture conceived
for DWDM transceiver with 50-GHz channel spacing, adaptive-DPSK,
has recently emerged. One issue with DPSK is that it is
not as spectrally efficient as duobinary or DQPSK and
suffers when transmitted through 50-GHz channel spacing
as used in 10-Gbit/s 80-wavelength DWDM networks.
Coming to rescue is Optoplexs dual-rate
DPSK demodulator. This new, compact, and intelligent component
allows the adaptive-DPSK transceiver to change the delay
between consecutive bits for efficient transmission through
50-GHz filters with the delay optimized based on the number
of filter stages that the signals go through. The technology
that the dual-rate demodulator is based on also paves
the path to the multi-rate DPSK demodulators.
During this weeks Optical Fiber Communication Conference
and Exposition (OFC) in San Diego, CA, Optoplex (at Booth#
2642) welcomes optical transport systems and subsystems
providers to visit and discuss their needs in making their
choices of 40-Gb/s components.
Optoplex provides customized solutions
to telecom network equipment and testing instrument providers
for wavelength routing and signal conditioning. Current
product families include DPSK
demodulator/Delay line interferometer (DLI), DQPSK
demodulator, 90-degree
optical hybrid, Optical
interleaver, Tunable
optical filter / Reconfigurable
optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM), Optical
performance monitor (OPM) / Optical
channel monitor (OCM).
