Test Engineer – R&D
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Works in the R&D department in new product development. Major functions include
- Setup test stations using equipment such as light sources (laser, tunable laser, broadband light source), OSA, oscilloscopes, photodetectors, function generator, data acquisition boards, various power supplies, and computer, etc.
- Programming using LabView: Setup test program for product test and measurement mainly using LabView platform. Some use C/C++.
- Perform tests and characterizations of various optical products
- Provides test and measurement supports to manufacturing lines on hardware setup and software (mainly LabView) program modifications/update
- Others assigned by supervisor
Particular Skills and Expertise
- Hands-on experience and skills in test equipment (light sources, OSA, Oscilioscopes, Function Generators, Data Acquisition Boards, Photoreceivers, Amplifiers, Switches, …), including their drivers
- Experienced in using LabView to build, modify and update test programs, a MUST.
- Some experience on PCB board level trouble-shooting

- College or BS in EE or related engineering with 2+-year experience

Electrical Hardware Engineer
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works on design of electronic hardware, including schematic design and PCB layout.
- Interfaces with suppliers and PCBA manufacturers
- Works with FW/SW engineers on verification test and trouble-shooting

Technical Sales Engineer
Job Description
Optoplex is a leading optical solution provider for optical communications, fiber sensing and biomedical optics. The company is headquartered in Fremont, California, with operations in Taiwan, Shanghai, and Wuhan, China.
As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will be the front line technical resource working directly with customers to capture sales opportunities for our sales organization. You will be responsible for actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process, working in conjunction with the sales team as a key technical advisor. The Technical Sales Engineer must develop a deep technical understanding of our products and be able to communicate at both a business and technical level across all levels within the organization.
The selected candidate will have successfully demonstrated his/her ability to support a sales team selling advanced optical solutions for optical communications, optical fiber sensing, or biomedical optics applications. Key experience in a variety of optical communications, fiber sensing, spectroscopy, optical instrumentation, life-sciences and biomedical optics is important. This position reports to the Sales Director and will be based in Fremont, California.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential responsibilities of the Technical Sales Engineer are to work directly with customers to capture sales opportunities and to work effectively across functions within the company to support sales. Primary areas of responsibility include:
• Conduct market research, benchmarking, and product identification
• Perform technical marketing and demonstrate Optoplex’s products and solutions to prospects and customers
• Develop selling opportunities by growing relationships throughout all levels of an account. Utilize a consultative approach, discuss technical and business issues with prospects/customers and develop a formal plan and presentation addressing their needs.
• Work with customers and internal technical team to define the products (requirements, specifications, time-to-market, …)
• Provide technical support to customers
• Create, manage and present product application notes, white papers and technical presentations
• Provide or facilitate training opportunities for assigned accounts
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS and QUALIFICATIONS
• BS degree in a technical discipline (optics, physics or engineering preferred) is required. An MS is preferred
• Minimum 3 years of technical marketing, technical sales, sales, or PLM in high-tech industry. Direct experience in fiber optics, fiber sensing, life-sciences, and/or biomedical optics a plus.
• Experience working in multi-site and multi-culture environments a plus
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills
• Must be willing to travel (up to 25%)
• Excellent phone, written, and verbal communications skills
• Excellent technical presentation skills
• Ability to work with customers and develop strong relationships
• Has a strong and professional work ethic
• Passionate about performance and company's success
