FREMONT,
CA, July 25, 2006 -- Optoplex Corporation, a leading
supplier of innovative photonic fiber-optic components,
modules and subsystems for dynamic wavelength management
and signal conditioning, today announces its volume production
and shipment of DPSK
family of products. In the past 12 months, more than 40
customers, including major tier one companies, have chosen
Optoplexs products due
to their superior performance and quality. This places
Optoplex as a leading supplier for DPSK applications.
Differential
Phase-Shift Keying (DPSK) demodulator, also called
"Delay Line Interferometer
(DLI)", converts phase modulation into amplitude
modulation over the entire C+L band in support of data
transmission rate of 10 or 43 Gb/s. It is designed for
next generation optical communications systems utilized
in commercial, defense and space exploration markets.
The device improves signal quality and performance to
meet the expanding demand for higher data rates and more
complex transmission formats within current and next generation
systems without major capital expenditure. Optoplexs
DPSK is based on a patented free-space optical design,
which is compact, athermal and polarization-independent.
The measured frequency drift over temperature is only
~0.02 GHz/°C. Further, its DPSK exhibits a total polarization-dependent
phase shift less than 2 degrees over the entire operation
temperature range with an extinction ratio of greater
than 25 dB. The DPSK demodulator
will cover all channels in the C+L band and may be configured
for wide tuning range (a few FSR), semi-tunable (±3
GHz) or purely passive operation modes. A super-fast tunable
version (<1 ms) is also under development.
