Fremont,
CA, October 26, 2005 Optoplex announced today
its release of FlexComb product line for a bi-directional
flat-top and high isolation optical
comb filter, and its engagement with major customers
for design-in activities.
In
sharp contrast with traditional Fabry-Perot cavity based
comb filter, a FlexComb device is capable of transmitting
modulated DWDM signals with its passband width available
anywhere down to a few picometer. Both the filter channel
spacing (FSR) and the filter duty cycle (3-dB bandwidth
to FSR ratio) can be specified by customers. As customers
in optical transport equipment and instrumentation industries
have described, this filter has superior performance traditional
approaches and opens a whole new playing-field of applications
from noise suppression for multi-wavelength laser or low-power
signal filtering to multi-channel optical transmission.
Based
on Optoplexs patented technologies of micro-optics
and phase modulation through thin-film coating, FlexComb
is a pure passive device characterized by minimal temperature
dependence, flat passband, high channel isolation, low
PDL, and uniform insertion loss. FlexComb is a Telcordia
GR-1221 qualified product.
With
the introduction of FlexComb, Optoplex once again
demonstrates its technical innovation in designing new
components to solve todays most challenging optical
communication, monitoring, and testing problems.
