Design and develop hardware, firmware and software for optical and electrical components used in communication applications, including analog and digital circuits for electrical & optical device, FPGA firmware with Verilog language, digital signal process algorithm for 40G modulation detection. Develop software with C/C++, Lab view and Matlab for electrical & optical device performance simulation, testing and calibration, such as optical thin film filter analysis, coating simulation tool, and thermal stability measurement automation. Design communication firmware, software and protocol for UART, GPIB, RS232 interfaces. Using PAD, Orcad tools for schematic design and PCB layout. Require: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with background in software and hardware development for optical and electronic systems, including optical thin film filter analysis, coating simulation tool, and optical fiber thermal stability testing.

Job Description

Act as a leading role in designing, developing and testing optical products, particularly for high speed optical communications. Setup and manage product development roadmap. Carry out the product development from concept, prototyping, pilot run, qualification to NPI. Create and maintain technical documents, such as product specifications, design documents, engineering BOMs, and work instructions.

• Define the overall requirements for the new products

• Perform key role in optical and mechanical design, modeling and simulations
  
• Plan and execute product development schedule
  
• Perform optical component characterization and product testing and analysis
  
• Lead pilot runs, qualifications and NPI
  
• Create and manage technical documents (specifications, designs, BOMs and work instructions)
  
• Carry out tolerance analysis and failure analysis
  
• Work out solutions in product design and process improvement.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

• MS/PhD in Physics, Optics, Optical Engineering, or equivalent
  
• Minimum 5+ years experience in optical product design and development – fiberoptic component related experience a plus
  
• With strong knowledge in free-space optics
  
• Experience in engineering management is preferred, although not a must
  
• Skilled at using one or more optical and mechanical designing tools, such as ZEMAX, TracePro, LightTool

Job Description

The job duties include: 1). Design and develop digital and analog circuits for storage, datacom, and telecom applications; 2). Design, implement and debug optical fiber modules and components for various optical PCBs; 3). Perform electrical circuit analysis, component selection and evaluation, system simulation and PCB layout using Oscilloscopes, C/C++, PADS and other schematic entry tools; 4). Develop VHDL/Verilog code, perform timing analysis and synthesis in FPGA circuit design using Quartus II and LabVIEW; 5). Write test plans, protocols, test summary reports and product design reviews.

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.

Providing technical marketing support for the development and implementation of customer applications dealing with communication systems hardware. Assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications. Customer specification reviewing and communication with engineering and production to make sure the specs is achievable. Taking care of daily sales and customers' technical questions about products.

Qualifications and Requirements

This position requires someone who can provide solutions that will best meet the customer's needs and can communicate effectively with customers and internally. Self motivated with a positive attitude. Strong team player. Minimum 3 years of industry experience and/or related working experience. BS degree and knowledge of engineering and fiber optics are must. Previous product development, customer service or technical support experience preferred.

Inter-department coordination and product management to support daily activities within Sales and Marketing department.

• Technical expertise in optical network passive or active component, module, and subsystem is a plus. Manufacturing experience is a plus.
